Dr. Margaret R. Donohoe, MD, FAAAAI
Dr. Donohoe is board certified in Allergy and Clinical Immunology as well as Internal Medicine. She earned her medical degree with honors at Temple University Medical School and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She served as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor in the department of Internal Medicine then worked as an Assistant Professor in the Emergency Medicine section of Temple University Hospital prior to her fellowship training. She was a Clinical and Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and completed her Allergy and Clinical Immunology training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. She practiced for 6 years in Maryland prior to moving to Elizabeth City in 1998 with her family.
Dr. Donohoe is an advocate for children with allergies and asthma and is the chairman of the Albemarle Pediatric Asthma Coalition with serves 7 counties in eastern NC since 1999. She also is serving on the Albemarle Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners and has been for over 9 years as well as the Albemarle Hospital Foundation. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and a Member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, NC Allergy and Asthma Society and NC Medical Society.
Dr. Donohoe is a licensed instrument-rated private pilot and ground instructor. She enjoys flying and adventure. She combines her love of aviation and her humanitarian spirit whenever possible to assist the needy on mission trips to the Bahamas, Africa, and elsewhere.
Dr. Elizabeth H. Isbister, MD, FAAAAI
A love of the Outer Banks prompted our newest provider, Dr. Elizabeth Isbister, to relocate with her family to this area several months ago. Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Isbister is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. She completed residency in Pediatrics and Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She practiced Allergy in northeast Indiana for approximately 18 years. During that time she served as president of the Indiana Allergy and Immunology Society and as an assistant clinical professor of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. She has owned and operated her own private practice and has served as the director of an Allergy department for a large, hospital-based group in Indiana.
Dr. Isbister enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and has particular interest in the management of asthma, allergic rhinitis and stinging insect allergy, as well as the use of the newer biological medications for the use of asthma and other allergic conditions. She is board-certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology
.Dr. Isbister and her husband Brad (a local family physician) are the proud parents of three daughters. In her free time, “Dr. I” enjoys cooking, reading and stained glass.
Ms. Alison M. Neal, MS-PAC
Mrs. Alison Neal has worked with Dr. Donohoe since 2002, when she moved to NC from the Houston area. She graduated from Baylor School of Medicine with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and licensed by the NC Medical Board.
Alison has a passion for patients with allergies and asthma as well as personal experience as a mother of a child with serious food allergies and asthma. She and her family reside in Camden, NC where they are all active in school, church, football, cheering and other sports. We are fortunate to have such an enthusiastic and empathetic professional on our staff.
